My Degree

Qualifications:
Detail-Oriented - I have been laying ceramic tile for over 10 years.  One thing that helps me stand out from the others is my attention to small details.  Several of my employers have commented on the style of work that I do.  I may take longer than some other tile layers but I am focused on making every aspect of my project perfect.

Loyal - When I find a great company or great people I become very loyal and I devote my all to the workplace and/or people.

Professional - When I am in front of clients or potential clients I am focused on my appearance as well as how I present myself.  I do not use slang terms and speak slowly and pronunciate all of my words.  I also dress appropiately depending on the situation I am in.

Proficient in PowerPoint - Currently I am working with a group of youth in my area.  Each day I teach them various lessons that will help them in life.  The majority of my lesson plans are done as PowerPoint presentation.  Therefore, over the last 5 months my knowledge in PowerPoint has increased dramatically.

Business Experience - I spent my last internship helping to run a dental office.  By participating in this I was able to learn quite a bit on how to run a small business.  I am now experienced in how to do payroll, manage facilities, and pay bills as well as several other necessary tasks.

Money Management Experience - I have had several experiences that have taught me about money.  I worked at a bank for a year and I have also taken a couple Tax Preparation courses.  My father in law has a degree in accounting and has taught me many tricks of the trade including how to create a budget and use Quick Books.

On September 11, 2001, I was a resident of Manhattan, New York. At that time I lived in Harlem, just a short distance from the World Trade Center. I was able to witness the shock and fear in the people around me due to the terrible events of that day. New York became uncharacteristically quiet except for emergency vehicles. During this time of stress and need I was able to volunteer for several days at the American Red Cross. One of my duties was to sort through the thousands of volunteers and match skills with needs. There were so many willing to help that at times it was overwhelming.  However, I found that as we successfully organized teams and assigned specific jobs, we were able to make a huge difference in the lives of those that were affected.  This and other service opportunities have proven to change my outlook on life. I now realize how important it is for me to dedicate my life to a profession of service.  I also was able to gain appreciation for dedication and hardwork.  I saw the gratitude that others felt from our small acts of service.  Also, I gained valuable leadership experience that has greatly helped me in my life thus far.
